As a long-time advocate for health equity and member of the HIMSS community, Ryan Bosch MD, President and Founder of Socially Determined, will serve as the master of ceremonies at the upcoming HIMSS Global Health Equity Symposium, convening on the first day of HIMSS22 (March 14-18 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL). Dr. Bosch will open the session and unite a globally diverse group of leaders for an immersive symposium of transformative education and problem-solving roundtable discussions focused on best practices to improve health equity and health outcomes worldwide.

This second annual HIMSS symposium is focused on strengthening cooperation among governments, the private sector, communities, the technology sector and society-at-large. At a high level, healthcare and technology leaders will come together to find better ways to overcome barriers to health equity, build a culturally competent and inclusive workforce, drive community-based innovation and foster important multi-sector and cross-cultural partnerships.

Dr. Bosch will moderate a full day of interactive sessions that will shape how we improve health equity at scale worldwide. Those tracks include:

  • Empowering communities with digital health solutions
  • Bridging the health literacy and digital divide to improve health outcomes
  • Equipping a culturally competent and inclusive workforce
  • Innovating to improve health outcomes
  • Fostering multi-sector collaboration to solve health disparities
  • Real-life action in making an impact in health equities at scale

During these sessions, leaders across the healthcare information technology ecosystem will share critical information and emerging ideas to transform how we better treat and support communities that need our help the most. In this capacity, the HIMSS community will come together to improve healthcare quality, safety, cost-effectiveness, and access through the best use of information technology and management systems. Paramount to any health equity effort are the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) and the impact these core socio-clinical drivers have on overall health and outcomes. As the post-pandemic world rises, the healthcare industry and worldwide governments must advocate for a greater understanding of SDOH risk, and the impact this social risk has on health outcomes and health equity.

Dr. Bosch would welcome the opportunity to connect with you while attending the Global Health Equity Symposium or during the HIMSS22 Week. Dr. Bosch can share critical insights on the value of SDOH programs, practical pearls from his two decades of healthcare executive experience, and proven methods of using data and analytics to drive meaningful and equitable outcomes. As a long-time member of the HIMSS leadership community and a practicing physician, Dr. Bosch is a contributing member of the HIMSS SDOH Task Force. Dr. Bosch worked with HIMSS leaders to edit and publish the Social Determinants of Health Guide, which analyzes the factors that impact the social determinants of health and quantifies how to use socioeconomic data to provide better health care to millions of people at scale. He is happy to connect with you to learn more about the connection between social care and medical care, and the direct impact this connection has on individual health, community, and population health.

If you’d like to connect with Dr. Bosch or the Socially Determined team during the HIMSS event or at another point in the future, please get in touch.
